"But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him." - Jeremiah in Lamentations 33:21-25 (RSV)
Lamentations reminds us that God's mercies never fail. They are new every morning! God is indeed good to those whose Hope is in Him. No matter how bad yesterday was, God offers you a new beginning every day. Take our Lord up on this offer today! Leave behind the baggage, worries, and fears of yesterday. Take a deep breath, fill yourself with the fresh air of a new day and put down the burdens of yesterdays' troubles and woes. Take God's hand in yours and accept his gift of Hope and new beginnings. Remember, God never withholds what is good, so you can be filled with hope. Trust that our Lord will provide what you need and sustain you through any trials. Psalm 34:10 says, "Those who seek the Lord lack no good thing." God always has your best interest in mind so you can trust He will bring about what He has promised. His larger plan for you will ultimately satisfy every need. Seek the Lord today in your thoughts, prayers, heart, and activities and you will find that hope and happiness will fill your day!
Jeremiah found hope in all the difficulties, disasters, and sorrow surrounding him and his nation in times of war and exile. How did he do this? He knew the faithful love of the Lord never ends. He had experienced how great God's faithfulness is and knew God's mercies begin afresh each morning. God always willingly responds with help when we ask. Even if there is some difficulty or even sin in your life that you may feel God can't heal or forgive, God's steadfast love and mercy are greater than any hardship or sin. God heals, delivers, and forgives us! Jeremiah knew from hard experience about God's faithfulness. He also knew God keeps his promises. Trust in God's faithfulness today, lay your burdens at his feet and wait. Then accept God's Gift of Hope today and everyday!
Prayer: God, Grant me your gift of Hope every day. Amen.
