"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know." Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." - John 14:1-6 (NKJV)
Have you ever been lost and needed directions to find your way home? In this vital scripture, Jesus tells his disciples in his last week on earth how to find their way home to God so they will not feel lost when he physically leaves them. There is no doubt Jesus says he is the only way to God his Father. Some feel this way is too narrow but it is wide enough for all who choose to try it. Instead of focusing that there is only one road home, it is more useful to say, "Thank you, God, for providing a sure way home!" While there are other roads to other gods, Jesus is the only way or path to his Father. As truth, he offers the reality of God's promises. As life, Jesus joins his divine life to ours now and eternally.
By uniting our lives with his, we are united with God. Trust Jesus to guide you to his Father, God, and all the privileges of being God's own child are yours. There aren't many scriptures describing eternal life, but these few verses are rich in promise. Jesus says, "I am going to prepare a place for you," and "I will come and bring you with me." We can look forward to eternal life because Jesus has promised it to all who believe in him. While many details of heaven are unknown, we need not fear because Jesus is preparing a beautiful place for us in the protective arms of God's love. We will not only have our own room but a mortgage free mansion guaranteed for eternity!
Prayer: God, Thank you for my mansion in heaven Amen.
