"God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them be signs to indicate Seasons and Days and Years and let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” It was so." -Genesis 1:14-15 (NET)
On this awesome first day of Spring, we can rejoice that God not only created the seasons but one as especially beautiful as Spring. Genesis tells us God established and created the seasons to not only bring order but also beauty and variety to our lives. God formed the sun, moon, and stars to not only regulate the day and the night but to also mark seasons, days and years. What a gift God has given us-especially in Spring! Instead of a fixed, static, boring world God has created a dynamic, purposeful, changing world offering exciting varieties of events each with its own experiences. Since God has set a time for everything, a sense of security results. The movements of life and earth are not meaningless but beautiful in their own time. They are part of the masterpiece of earth formed by of our Creator along with the different seasons each with. its own character.
Yet Spring is a special season of joy with its abundance of flowerers blossoming and fruit ripening. It is a season when young thoughts turn to love and outdoors possibilities emerge of fishing, camping, picnics, baseball, and gardening. Edwin Teale, noted author, once said, "The world's favorite season is the Spring. All things seem possible in May." So let's go out today and enjoy what many believe to be the best season of them all! It is God's special gift to you. Open it up today as you touch the earth and unwrap the fresh sweet smell of Spring in the air. Cherish this moment and treasure the Lord's priceless gift created especially for you!
Prayer: Creator God, Thank you for the gifts of the sun, moon, stars, days, nights, years, and seasons. May I treasure this Spring day and all your seasons. Amen.
