"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." -Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)
Have you ever lost something important and looked and looked and were just about ready to give up when it suddenly appeared right before your eyes? All kinds of things can be lost in a busy day including clothes, bills that need paying, phone numbers, addressees, coats, and school lunches. However lost car keys are probably the worst. While vital to survival, they can mysteriously disappear only to find them right under our feet. God sometime seems to be like our lost car keys both elusive and hard to find. However, Jesus tells us in today's scripture to persist in seeking God. People often give up after a few halfhearted efforts and conclude that God cannot be found. Yet if we keep searching, we will often find God right under our feet.
However, finding and knowing the Lord takes faith, focus, and follow-through. Jesus assures us that if we persevere, we will be rewarded. Don't give up in your efforts to seek and find God. Continue to ask your Lord for more knowledge, perseverance, patience, wisdom, love, and understanding. God will give all of these gifts to you along with the keys to a better and more rewarding life than you can possibly imagine "For everyone who asks receives. Those who seek find. And to all who knock, the door will be opened."
Prayer: God grant me the perseverance to keep seeking for more of you. At those times when I feel lost and separated, remind me your love is still seeking me out and helping me to find more of you everywhere. Amen.
Meditation For The Day: Keep seeking. God will answer!
