"When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us. And they went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they saw it they made known the saying which had been told them concerning this child; and all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them." -Luke 2:15-18 (RSV)
The true meaning of Christmas does not end with the birth of Jesus but only begins for 'to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." (Lk.2:11) May you join with the shepherds in the coming days, months and years as we all continue to seek for ourselves the living reality of a Christ who began life homeless in a lowly manger. This is the same Jesus who walks with you today and is Christ our Lord. The Promised one has indeed appeared, full of Grace and Truth. For those who trust the power of God, a new way of living is made possible. Prophets foretold it. Angels announced it. Shepherds confirmed it.
Luke shares the glory of the intricacies of Christ's birth with us in wonderful details. Advent has offered us an opportunity to join the celebration and experience its amazing revelations as we:
• Choose to join ourselves to the glory of the Lord of hosts;
• Go with the shepherds to the place where Love is born;
• Join the angelic heralds of redemption in praise of God for this holy birth.
This Christmas Season we have been offered a sacred treasure.
• May you today see clearly the Light of lights.
• May you be upheld with hope, peace, joy, and love.
• May you join with Wise Men who bow before the manger.
• May you receive and then bring the Good News of God's Peace, Love, Joy, and Hope to a weary strife filled world.
Prayer: God, Thank you for sending light into my darkness. May angels announce the Peace of Christ today. Amen
Meditation For The Day: May I light an Advent candle for Christ.
