"Brief Devotions For Busy Lives" By the late Rev. Dr. Mary B. Johnson: Psalm 5:2-3

November 15

"Let the voice of my cry come to you, my King and my God; for to you will I make my prayer. My voice will come to you in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I send my prayer to you, and keep watch." - Psalm 5:2-3 (BBE)

Are you a "morning person"? Some are and others are not. If you are, God graced you with the ability to jump out of bed joyfully and embrace the day with energy and enthusiasm immediately tackling whatever work awaits. If you are not, then morning can be a difficult slow process often requiring many cups of coffee or tea to get started and stay engaged in morning chores. Yet no matter how we are oriented, if our morning routine doesn't include regular times for connecting with God in his Word and talking by prayer phone, then our days can be negatively affected. Not spending any morning time with God opens us up to stress, fatigue, apathy, depression, and even failure. Yet benefits of Morning Prayer include: energy, focus, creativity, guidance, and success in our daily endeavors. As Charles F. Stanley said “we can be weary or emotionally distraught but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength.”

The secret of a close relationship with God is to pray faithfully each morning at a time when our minds are freer from problems. Then we can walk the whole day with God. Regular talks help any friendship and are certainly necessary for a strong relationship with God. What a joy and privilege to be able to talk with our best friend daily! Do you have a regular time to pray and read God's Word? If each Morning you can find a quiet time to spend with God, your life can be transformed from stressed to blessed. Starting mornings with God in prayer is the best place to find strength for the day ahead. If we pray, listen, and wait for God's answers, we can trust God to successfully guide our schedule every day. Life is often filled with difficulties or worries in the midst of good. Yet God will bring you through any challenging situation with peace in your heart if you start your day with the Lord by your side. Seek God at dawn and you will find Joy at sunset in a satisfying day well spent and well lived! Your blessings will abound!

Prayer: God, Thank you the gift of Morning Prayer. Amen.

Meditation For The Day: Prayer empowers. Silence devours.
